What da What happened during the AMVCA's de second (aka Afaminator, can you handle it?)

16:36:00
Yo! Yo! Yo! So those weren't all my pictures. I've got a few more. I've got to say, being a fashionisto is paying off on the instagram front. My following isn't that large yet, but I'm sure it will grow like a weed. Weed... That's a nice word. I like it when I feel weedy. And I like that weed has many meanings. Yes, I like the word "weed". It's full of possibilities. Most words are, so I suppose this is why I like words. Anyway, I've got to hurry up and finish this so I can get back to life. I haven't been to Stranger, that store in Lekki since Wednesday and I need a top up. They get my sort crazy over there.

Anyway, let's begin! I like beginnings. I like that I can't see the ending at the minute. I'm sure all of that will become clear once we begin.

Here we've got Tomi Odunsi. She was styled by Rukky Style and I hear she's an actress on tinsel.  She's gorgeous isn't she? When I saw her, I walked up to her and said, "sistuh, sistuh, I gats take your pisho." She obviously acquiesced. if she didn't she wouldn't be here so aren't you gad for it. I love what she's wearing though. It's really pretty. Her shoes are great too. I obviously like the subtle things more than I do the loud.

This is great you know? She could be hiding a carnival up in there but I'm sure that she isn't. You look at her and you can tell that she's a great super nice and cooky individual. These are all good things in my book. I'm going to go out on a limb and call it boho chic.

Bayo Oke Lawal and Tomi Odunsi. Smize Bayo, Smize. Dude's fierce face is a little too fierce. I can imagine the photoshoot that was going on in his head.  Look a little to the left. Chin down. Stare into the distance. Imagine that there's a safe full of money at the end of the runway. Lust after it. Yeah! Give it your I'm going to rape you now look. And there you have it. I have to say that Bayo looks good here. He didn't really dress up during fashion week because he was working. I was pleased that his man cleavage was absent. Anyway, He's wearing a blazer that he made, a shirt that he made, and a tie from Primark. I shit you not. Dude is a fashion KING!! I have never seen anything primark look that good. I shall tag them in this. I don't know where the trousers are from but the shoes are Armani. They make a pretty couple don't they?

This is Damilola Adegbite. I love her body. It reminds me of one of the characters in a jackie Collins novel I read once. I'm not going to tell you why because #inappropriate but if she ever asks me I'll drop it like a slut. She looks awesome. I dig it. Her dress wasn't made for sitting though.

Erm I'm kind of sort of not a camera man. I'm a blogger. And the event didn't pay me a salary. So it's a little awkward when you grab my arm and demand that I take your picture. I'm happy to do it most of the time, but you don't demand charity you know? I've got a job to do and stuff. They look super pretty don't they?

I rate this dood so highly. He was one of the presenters last night and he did a bang tidy job. He had his game face all night. I think I like South Africans. The one's I met last night were brilliant. He looks good, and I like his socks.

This woman, Brenda Wairimu is such a doll. You'll see a better picture of her later.

Here you have Lawrence, Vimbai and IK Osakioduwa all smiling like perverts. I kid. What! Sometimes my jokes aren't funny. I have to get my rocks off too you know?

That guys head ruined a perfectly amazing shot, so thanks man, for ruining my life.

This is Vimbai again. I'm obviously secretly in love with her. MMmmm She sweet like chocolate. I'm practicing my African American speech. This was outfit number 2. It wasn't my favourite one that she wore, but she looks great in this shot, and it's all about the shot right?

Here we've got Makida Moka. he's wearing an custom made dress by Ituen Bassey. It's stunning. She's stunning. Do you understand that she's not even trying to look stunning? That's her face dead on. I'm going to ask her to be my baby momma. I need those genes in my gene pool. Afam and Maki swirl. Boom Chaka Wawa.

In all fairness Bayo's an amazing sport. Here he's looking at the Orange culture cookies on the menu. He is the biggest advocate of self promotion I've ever met. Which is why I have dedicated a future 40,000 naira to buying one of his designs. It's the coolest smock I've ever seen. I'll blog about it sometime.

These ladies wanted a picture too, but they asked nicely, so I was happy to do it. They're so shiny!

And this is me, celebrating the fact that I, Afam, got yet another press pass.

Vimbai again... She had three dress changes last night. I liked this one the best though. That's not to say that the others weren't great. Remember, IMOTEDA BEAT THAT FACE!!! How can anyone say that she doesn't look awesome. Take that haterade you've been sipping and shove it up your arse. What? You wanted to say something? Shove it even higher yo!! That's what I have to say to you @PoshAgabi on twitter.

Eku in Jewel by Lisa. She makes me sigh. That's how pretty she is. I think I say pretty too much. I'm going to stop taking pictures of pretty people now. They just oppress the non-pretty. I was fairly pleased that handsome chap (Denola) wasn't there. I would have gone home depressed. If you're good looking you should at least have the common decency to be poorly dressed. I feel better and I didn't mean that. Not really... anyway this is about Eku, and she looks great. It's so simple, and elegant.

This is a sign that the Lord has come down. Those legs. Ah Gaddem. Afam, can you handle it? Afaminator, can you handle it? Afamefuna, can you handle it? Because I don't think you can handle it. And I can't. Legs for days. Legs on legs on legs. Poise on poise on poise. She is exquisite.

Temidollface gave the best performance of the night. During her performance she stomped off stage, sat on my laps, and did a little dance for me. I was in shock, I call it Temishock. She is fierce oh! I'm going to her next concert with my crew. That's me, Captain Reginald my 6 year old Rottweiler and aspiring photographer, and my two cameras. It's an Afam party. Welcome to my Afamourage.

This woman! She has a beautiful soul. She isn't that short in real life. She was just trying to hide her slippers. I think she looks like Serena Williams and I mean that in the best way possible. Her name's Moloisi Mabeba, and she haileth from South Africa.

This right here is Chioma Afe, who works for DSTV. I like what she's wearing. It's flattering. She looks good, but I wish she had stars underneath the Adire cut outs. That's adire no? You know I don't know what adire is. I call anything that looks traditional adire. How bad of me? I'll change my ways immediately. The only thing I don't like about that dress is the zip down the front. It's bizarre.

And here we have Duro Onokunle. Her smile is the most contagious thing. I really like her hair as well. It suits her.

This right here is Jennifer Alegieuno.  I don't hate it. She's looks okay. I'm not so sure about the purple and yellow combination but it wasn't the worst thing I saw all evening so, I'll move on. Before I go, it seems that I've only just become sure about the combination. I don't like it. Yellow and purple do not compliment each other at all. Gurr who styled you? She does look pretty though.

Here we've got Linda Ejiofor. I strongly believe that that's her name, but I may be wrong. She looks great doesn't she? I like the cut out at the waist but cut outs are so 2012 aren't they? We're practically in 2014 y'all! And someborry beat that face up!

This is Ivie in a dress by Cici Mae. It was the most fashion forward dress there. I don't think I'll say any more than that. I liked it. I like it still. It's interesting to look at.

Ivie again. She's a babe.

The entertainment on the red carpet was provided by Osameji entertainment. It's owned by two twin sisters, Taiwo and Kehinde. They were fun. I enjoyed their cultural rhythms. I suspect that they may also be cultural dance specialists. I find this detail interesting.

The dress is nice, but I don't understand why she's wearing that bag and that chunky necklace and those shoes. Everything about this look but the dress and the make up is wrong. The weave needs to go. I'm sorry it does. I think she might have benefited from the powers of an updo.

two words, DISCO QUEEN. The men look like her body guards though and that's unfortunate.

Praiz. I think that's how it's spelled. Praiz sang very well, but he was on right at the beginning, so not many people listened. He did dress well, and I suppose that counts for something.  Next time don't let them put you on first. The devil is a liar.

Bah! They're all pretty. But that womans cleavage yo is a big that is beautiful. It's important to say because not every big is beautiful. When your muffin top has a muffin top, that isn't how you are naturally, that big is not beautiful, you're just fat. Of course there's nothing wrong with being fat, but don't go around saying you look like a "normal woman". Make like Gabourey Sidibe and own your fatness. Having said all that these women are larger than size 2 and they're all stunning.

Brenda Wairimu, I have no words. I kid. I always have words. Epic. Stunning. Fantastic. Doll. She is such a doll. Any way you look at her she's a doll. The dress, flatters her to no end. And the styling and her make up compliment each other. Success! This is the standard people, meet it!!

Temi Dollface was the best performer of the night. She's a machine. And those shoes, they're like midnight. I love her style. I really do. She was singing to me at that moment. Can you see her looking at me? And, she can azonto like a monster.
I had fun. I hope you did too. I've got to jet. There's this thing called The Experience in a lethal bizzle, and I'm covering it so... there.

Yes, I left my belt at home. Why did I leave my belt at home? It's a simple answer,  we had a fight and it isn't speaking to me. I called it ugly. It didn't like being called ugly so it refused to look good on this outfit. Belt-kun please forgive me, I don't know whatta do. Please forgive me, when I'm not loving you. That song came straight from Nollywood. I quite like Africa Magic you know. The other day I watched a movie where there was a winnie the pooh ojuju calabar, and witches and wizards were duelling like they were in Hogwarts. It was such good fun. I laughed my arse off. Feel free to slam me for my shoddy appearance. Like I said, it isn't personal. Eku and I look like best friends here. This is a good thing. Now I can be like she my homie, mhmmm. Don't judge me. I've already judged myself.

Happy Days,
Afam

What da What went down at the AMVCA's? (aka Honey, baby, sugar, you need to fire yourself as your stylist) Part one

11:36:00
Ahoy famzers!! Yes, I'm screaming this as I type it in my mind! I'm also smiling like a serial killer, because when you're eyes are as big as mine, and your mouth is as wide as mine, sometimes, when you smile, you're going to look like a serial killer. I would say that I had the mind of a serial killer but I don't. I would shoot someone, and say, "Ewww, look at his brains everywhere." Then I would vomit. Blood is disgusting.

This is why I call you lot famzers: http://www.theramblingsofamadman-afam.com/2013/01/notes-on-metal-garrurumon-famz-and.html

Anyway, last night I got the chance to attend the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards Nominations party. It was really quite a last minute affair that involved quite a bit of lying and posh accent dropping to even get through the gates. This would be impossible for any mere mortal, but I'm Afam. I'm epic, I'm a Gambian Legend (I'm not really Gambian, but Gambia is an extraordinary place), and I'm vulgar. Don't hold my vulgarity against me, it's almost never personal. When I say i'm vulgar you mustn't think that I go about screaming insults at people. It's just that I blog, and blogging is vulgar. More on this later...

As per usual, I had my Canon SX280HS (Baby Camera... i's a compact that Mama Afam gave me for earning a degree. It's also the first compact that I haven't lost within a week. THANK GOD!!) and my Daddy Camera (Canon 400D) with me so I took pictures. Unfortunately I wasn't as on the ball here, as I was during fashion week. Just before I arrived at the event I had to escape from an all day lecture from Papa Afam. Needless to say I wasn't feeling too awesome when I arrived, but when I left, I had an extra pep in my step.

Without further ado, I present to you, the What da what went down at the AMVCA's...

Please be warned that I shall not just be putting up pictures of the event, that's lazy, dull and uninteresting. If I didn't have a little fun by adding some much needed commentary to the shots, then I do not think I would do it for free. So to those I'm snarky about, I beg you, forgive me! I don't hate you, I just maybe hated what you were wearing, and that's okay isn't it?

This woman! Her name's Bisi Sowemimo I think. Yesterday was a shitty day for me. If I make a mistake correct me please!!! I'm sorry for my sub par performance with the names, I'll be better. I'll do better. Anyway, how gorgeous is she? Her limbs, they go on for days. And the dress, sinful. She very nearly had a Marilyn Monroe moment right there on the carpet, but she's a hustler. She tucked that dress in between her legs, and didn't think a thing of it. I like this woman.

You all know who this one is don't you? Uti Nwachukwu. It was evening when I took this shot, so why his shades are still on I can't quite say. He's alright I suppose. Everything fits so I can't really say that much. There's just something about it you know? It isn't great, and maybe it could have been if the jacket wasn't moss green, and it didn't have a red pocket square sticking out of it. Or maybe if he wasn't wearing a weird bondage bracelet that says "cuff me to the bed woman". Or maybe it's just that he was wearing shades when he really shouldn't have. I'll file it down as one of the things I can't explain. It could have been a lot worse though. So there.

Do you have words for this? I mean, look at her! I mean, look at it. She got it right. If you disagree with me, I will fight you, and I will win. She's a lovely creature this. Her name's Isio Wanogho. Follow her on Instagram will you? isiodelavega

How adorable is this? The answer is very. The satellite gele made me smile. Her shoes not so much. It got me thinking that if your gele's sky high maybe your shoes don't have to be. I did love it though. She looks like someone I'd call mummy without feeling awkward.

Check out this amazon. Yup. The dress is... but the woman is awesome. How pretty she looks. I'm digging the tousled bed head thing she's got going on. This is how the movies tell you that you should look after you've just had sex. We all know that people don't look like that after they've just had sex, but we buy the fantasy.

She looks uncomfortable and she probably was. Those shoes look excruciating. She does look nice though. It's a flattering dress, with the wrong hair and alright jewellery . The right cuff didn't have to happen. I'm not to keen on the bag either. She looks nice, but with the right stylist she could have looked banging, and I'm sure she will next time. Her name's Katherine Obiang.

These dudes were the coolest dudes there! The best thing about being on the red carpet, is that while you stand there and JUDGE everyone, they also judge themselves. When I was judging dude on the right, he started laughing, because he judged himself and he knew that he didn't try. Then I started laughing because he too could benefit from having a stylist. He was super good spirited about it, so I was too. I quite like them you know?

Eku Edewor. Now, I can't say anything not nice about Eku because, the president of her fan club and my occasional assistant Bintin lives with me. Be that as it may, Eku doesn't really mess up in the fashion department. And she's nice to me. I like people that are nice to me. She noted that I was coming up in the world, and I am. Very soon I shall be your leader. Anyway Eku's wearing a stunning dress by Bridget Awosika. Even though I saw it on the runway at Lagos Fashion Week I didn't rate it until I saw it on her.

Let's talk about Vimbai. Red dress = hot. Awesome clutch = stylish. Lovely figure = Thank you God/Allah/Jesus/Buddha/thetans/ parents... I don't care what you believe in just thank something! Beautiful face = Thank you genetics and IMOTEDA!! Yes! imoteda is the make up artist that beat it up yo. She beat it so hard that I'm sitting here admiring the make up. And then she stood by her woman! Imoteda was touching it up at every chance she got. At the end of everything, IMOTEDA looked wretched but that was okay because Vimbai looked beautiful. all of that aside, she's actually a super great, super professional person. She worked hard. She did well. I'm happy for her. I hope I meet her again.

Ebony and Ivory? Forgive me. Sometimes, the words, they come, and I can't stop them!

This is what happens when two friends have animated conversations on the red carpet. Yes, Afam will take that picture!! The gist must have been hot though. Eku's quite clearly saying "Oh my God, I could not!!" Vimbai's saying, "Damn gurr, I could not even believe it." Lololol. I find this amusing. :)

Aha! I've been dying to talk about this one. He's Gbenro and he's on Tinsel. Now, when he put this on, he knew where he was going and he wore it anyway. Ah! where do I start? Well first off he needs a stylist or a best friend or somebody to tell him when he isn't getting it. Most people have that person. If I wear rubbish and Papa Afam sees me, he'll tell me off for a week. Now, I didn't say that Gbenro wore rubbish. I'm sure the items that he wore are brilliant when they're not paired together. Maybe just not the jeans. They're too big. If jeans don't fit, they should be burned. Look at the way they're riding up because of the suspenders! Isn't he a little too tall for the Erkel nerdy look? Aren't you glad I didn't take an ass shot, because his wedgie was fierce! I suppose some of you like that sort of thing, but not me. I'm not that liberal. And that watch is Mah-Ha- SSIVE.It's bigger than my head. This is much too much but as much as it is it wasn't the muchest. Just wait a second, I shall show you.

First I shall pray to the universe. Dear Universe thank you for presenting me with this opportunity to be mean, and by mean I mean nasty, and by nasty, I mean like the devil. But Universe, you are a bastard, I will not rise to the occasion because I'm a child of the light. I like her bag and her jewellery. I also love her hair and her make up. I love it from the boobs up. I wouldn't have minded it so much if she managed to find the second leg of either one of the shoes, and that's the part of the truth... But I shall move on because if I do not, the temptation will overwhelm me and only God knows what will happen then. Honey, baby, sugar, sweetie, fire yourself as your stylist.
Here we have Andrea Giaccaglia and Sika Osei. I first met Andrea in Fashion Week. She's the one who had the arch of life.  I follow her on Instagram now, because seeing a pretty face always makes me a little bit happier. She always kills it. All she's wearing is a black dress, but everything about it is impeccable. She gets it. She just gets it. You don't need to have the most elaborate dress,. You don't need to have the biggest rocks. And you don't need all the make up in the world. Simplicity takes to beauty more readily than excess. Sika looks nice too. The bubble skirt gives her Kardashian like curves. It looks like it was difficult to sit in though.
Meet Ebuka! It seems to me that I met him during fashion week. I didn't like what he wore then, but I like it now. He was feeling himself, and I was feeling him too. There's nothing wrong with this. And it was sunny when he was posing so I don't mind that he's wearing shades. The shoes are very shiny, but that's okay because nothing else is shiny. I like it. I like it a lot. I think I'll copy it.

Ehem... Okay. This one makes me a little weak. It's just so, so. It's much too much for me. I would only ever wear that to a costume party, and then again, I think I'd rather wear the spandex flash costume I have at the foot of my closet. Anyway, he looks good. It is a little vulgar but that's okay I guess. Now, forget about everything I've said and let's talk about the fit. It fits him like a damn glove yo. That means the designer understands bodies yo. So we need to hit that designer up, and have him make us something less ibo boy and more yoruba old money. Am I right? The guy's Chris Okagbue and it was designed by Adetorch clothing.

I love this. And I don't think I need to say why. It's a beautifully cut suit that fits well.  His name is Joseph Benjamin. yes, that's two first names. I guess he didn't have a choice in the matter.

This is proof that my camera is a saint. This woman looks stunning. The robe she's wearing drapes really well in this photo and the shoes look amazing. I think she put my camera's name in a calabash. Yes, I sense some spiritual interference here. I joke. She looks good, and pictures don't lie. Or do they?
That brings part one to a close.

Happy Days,
Afam

This is the post that'll explain the post that follows it. It seems that to obtain the press passes I'll need to cover the Music Meets Runway event on the 21st of December in Lagos, I'll have to post all the press releases and pictures they tell me to. At first I was upset. My blog is my space. I do not welcome people in it without thought. I guard it jealously. It is precious to me. In it are the hopes and dreams of a thousand. In it is my heart.

I got ahead of myself a little bit there. The bulk of you do not know what Music Meets Runway is. It's an event with fashion shows and music performances. This year's edition is dedicated to the icons in the Nigerian Fashion and Music Industries.

I was only upset for a second, because there is progress here. A year ago, I wouldn't have been considered for a press pass, soon they'll arrive in the post and I'll vet them like an elitist. I ask that you bear with me for a little bit. We're growing, we'll be great soon.

Happy Days,
Afam
