We've got a rather serious morning ahead of us I'm afraid. You see, quite recently Rick Ross released a song called U.O.E.N.O where he rapped,
"Put molly all in her champagne,
she ain't even know it,
I took her home and enjoyed that,
she ain't even know it"
I know, you've just gone back to read it and now you're thinking "did he really say that? Could it be a metaphor for something else? Surely he didn't mean it literally... It's all banter isn't it?" No, it isn't. It cannot be interpreted as anything else but what it is because he has just outlined quite specifically the characteristics of date rape.
Lolia Etomi, a young Nigerian student of Theology at Cambridge heard the song and created a petition which you should see and sign by clicking on the link below:
Her petition has garnered over a thousand signatures so far, and is gaining so much traction that Rick Ross sort of apologized for it.
He said at a recent radio interview, "It was
misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term 'rape'
wasn't used. And I would never use the term 'rape' in my records."
He went on to say, "reach out to all the queens that's on my timeline, all the sexy ladies,
the beautiful ladies that had been reaching out to me with the
misunderstanding, we don't condone raping – I'm not with that."

I don't glorify what was said in the song but I don't understand the big deal either. I feel like this petitiin should have never been started because if you petition his lyrics then petition the movie productions as well. They make films actually showing women being raped, but I guess that's ok. But yet some still go and watch those films. I'm sure that if a man was going to rape a female then that song or any song would matter because he had his mind made up anyway. And before you start with I don't know what I'm talking about then you're wrong.I was molested for many years, I was raped by a stranger and I was dated raped as well. Get a petition going to the justice dept. So they won't let rapist free because of some evidence that wasn't presented the correct way. Now that I would love to sign but this one I refuse to sign. Rick Ross is like all the other stars....trying to make money instead of out there robbing and stealing. He's not glorifying rape or horrible acts against women. He should be a learning lesson for women to not accept drinks from people they know nothing about.
Whole heartedly agree. Great post.
